Performance poetry has become a popular form in the contemporary literature scene in the UK. It’s common to see poets use their voice and body movement to create and perform poems to their readers, increasing the exchange between poets and readers. This workshop would like to extend poetry presentation from two dimensional to three dimensional. Participants will learn how to use their voice, physical movement, rhythm and other techniques to create the dialogue between time, space and audience. In addition, we’d like to broaden the appreciation of poetry and encourage participation among a wider audience.
Workshop (full) to be run by Aoife Mannix
General public : 27 and 31 Jan 2007, 20 people/ day
Core participants: 28-30 Jan 2007, 15 people
Note: please wear loose clothes because of the requirement of physical movement. Participants are welcome to bring any material they’ve created related to poetry creation.
